Mr. Critical.

"We never change, do we?"-Chris Martin

I have never in my entire life seen such a big bunch of babies.

My brother must be the biggest of them all. I dropped some popcorn on the floor in his room, he starts bitching like a big kid. I mean, fuck, it's not that big of a deal. He makes it seem like I dropped some uranium on his floor and gave him cancer.

My Mom is also another baby. Moping around and catching a attitude with me when all I did was just ask for a slice of pizza. God!

Anyway, moving on.

I picked my comics up a few days ago and I've gotta say, this month's comics were the best of the entire year so far.

I like the new creative team on Fantastic Four. Mark Millar still has his remarkable talent going strong. (I loved "Wanted".) and Bryan Hitch's style fits PERFECTLY with the syle of the series. Although I did like Mike McKone on the title a bit better.

G.I. Joe: WWIII is still kicking ass. It's the eighth issue of the story arc but it's STILL great. Duke has become more of a leader and the Joes are following his lead pretty well, now the question is, Will the Joes save the President from Cobra Commander's troops in time? (Cobra kidnapped the President and took over the United States finally!)

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is ok. I still don't see the logic in why they set the Spider-Man universe back or why they even destroyed the marriage between Peter and MJ but hey, Marvel does what Joe Quesada wants. (Get it?)

Moving on.

Batman. Grant Morrison's run gets better and better and better and better and better and better and better. It takes me back to when I first read Arkham Asylum when I was four. (It scared the shit out of me.) Back to Batman, Tony Daniel's art just can't get better for a dark title. The detail, the darkness and the espression of his art on Batman is incredible.

Detective Comics is still good as well. Paul Dini's writing on the title makes me think of his stories with Bruce Timm from the 90's Batman cartoon series, which is my second-favorite cartoon. (The 90's X-Men cartoon is my all time favorite. Hands down.) I miss Don Kramer collaborating with Paul Dini though but Dustin Nguyen is awesome!
Rating: 7 out of 10

Action Comics. Of course, the best DC writer, Geoff Johns is doing what he does best and keeping his stories fantastic as ever. Gary Frank's artwork is alright. It doesn't make me want to stare at the page for hours and it doesn't make me want to shut the book close and never look at it again (Steve Dillon comes to mind.) but overall, the story is beautifully done every month.

Superman is average. It's between good and not so good. I like the plot but the dialouge could be SO much better. I guess it depends on your taste.
Rating: 5 out of 10

The Amazing Spider-Girl! I love it, I love it, I love it, I love it, I LOVE IT! Tom Defalco just doesn't let up. If you've never missed an issue since 1999 like I have, you'll know that the continuity, plot and dialouge is perfect with a capital "P". I just LOVE Spider-Girl.
Rating: 9 1/2 out of 10

Ultimate Spider-Man. Very well done. Bendis is going strong. For a alternate universe, Ultimate Spider-Man does things very well. It's the only book from the "Ultimate" line that I read but from the others that I have read in the past like Ultimates or Ultimate X-Men (When it first came out around 2000 or 2001) I honestly have to say that Ultimate Spider-Man is by far, the very best of the line.

Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic. BEAUTIFUL! I can't tell you guys just how much I am in love with this title. It's not just because I'm a VERY big Star Wars fan but this title is HOT! HOT! HOT! I love it. It takes place in the old republic (Any time between 2,000 and 2 days before the end of Episode III.) I'm telling you, this book is hot! It's the very best of Dark Horse's titles.

Uncanny X-Men. BRUBAKER IS THE MAN! Messiah Complex is just ending and I enjoyed it a whole lot but Brubaker is the only one (X-Men writer) who isn't drained from the events of the Messiah Complex. I mean beside Joss Whedon, Ed Brubaker is the only writer kicking major ass on any of the X-Men titles.

Now, speaking of Joss Whedon, let's talk about Astonishing X-Men. I'm kinda sad that he's leaving along with John Cassaday but all things come to an end sooner or later, right? Anyway, their latest storyline has been great and I'm gonna miss them. Aaaaaaaand I'm gonna drop this title the day that their last issue comes out in March since that asshole Simone Bianchi is taking over art duties. (Bianchi = Creep.)

Mercenaries. It's the latest and greatest book I've picked up in the last two and a half years. It's just like I imagined (No pun intended to the NIN song.) it would be when I first saw the advertisement for it last fall. It's exceeding my espectations actually. It goes into the world of being a mercenary both mentally and physically and it couldn't be any more detailed. It's a great read every time I pick it up but it still has quite a road to exsplore.

Stykman! It's the very best of all the indie comics that I subscribe to. My pal, Jonnie Allan keeps a good balance of action and comedy. I can't wait until the stories go onto be a cartoon like he's planned on doing for some time.
Rating: 9 out of 10

Green Arrow and Black Canary. Judd Winick does great work. I enjoyed the wedding special (*Amanda Connor*)  and the series has been good so far. I've enjoyed the series so far and I'm looking forward to seeing how it all ends up in a year or so. Judd Winick gave hints to a big surprise in issue 12 or 13.

Spawn. David Hine has revamped Spawn in a way I didn't think was possible. With the new Spawn and Batman crossover coming out soon, this is a perfect time to go into Al Simmons' past and origin the way Hine has done these past few issues. It's great to see the character exsploration and further development the creative team has brought to the comic. I enjoy reading the stories and I hope they keep it up.

I'm glad Jason Aaron has taken over scripting duties on Ghost Rider. It's a gorgeous combination of plot, conflict and dialouge and also his personal style of writing. The writing of Jason Aaron and the art of Roland Boschi make magic together. It's like a perfect marriage of art and writing. It's definitive of what a marvel comic book should be and look like.
Rating: 10 out of 10

Secret Invasion. Bendis is doing a phenomonal job! I like the suspesion ans distrust every one has for each other. It's so realistic of how everyone can turn on one another. My guesses for who's a Skrull are: Ms. Marvel, Black Panther, Iron Man or Spider-Woman.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Nightwing. I love the continuity between Marv Wolfman and Peter Tomasi's bi-monthly issues. Don Kramer and Rags Morales keep a good chemistry of art with all the issues they tend to do. The story, itself, is great. Good conflicts, good stories, good work.
Rating: 7 out of 10

Moon Knight is gooooooooood. I'm enjoying it a lot. Mike Benson's scripts keep me thinking and Mark Texeira's art is, come on....beautiful. They are another creative duo that keep up their work and don't let up. Although, Charlie Huston and David Finch's run was untouchable, Benson and Texeira's run is very well done also.
Rating: 9 out of 10

Supergirl. It's official, Ian Churchill's artwork also cannot be touched but Drew Johnson and Lee Furguson's art together make a good mixture of reality and fiction. I like Kelley Puckett's scripts and I'm looking forward to seeing Kara develop more as a character. (Spider-Girl is still better.)
Rating: 7 1/2 out of 10

Black Panther is very good. I enjoy Reginald Hudlin's writing and with this title I think it's appearant that he's further developed his skills as a writer and more importantly, a storyteller. Black Panther is really good if you like crossovers and inter-twining story arcs. Cafu's artwork is pretty impressive. His detail and facial espressions (Second to the Queen, Amanda Connor.) are VERY good.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Wonder Woman is great! I love Gail Simone's writing. She's just one of the very best at what she does. Terry and Rachel Dodson, continue to draw the sexiest of female characters (Terry and Rachel Dodson's Black Cat). I'm enjoying the storylines that Gail Simone has put out and into the book and I'm enjoying the constant Amazonian conflicts.
Rating: 10 out of 10

I like the run on Green Lantern that Geoff Johns and Mike McKone have been doing. The "Sinestro Corps" arc has been great and I can't wait until the legendary "Blackest night" (Alan Moore's prophecy of where the universe will end up.) actually does happen.
Rating: 9 out of 10

*Captain America*. I mean, is Ed Brubaker the man or what?! Bucky has become the new Cap and the stories are looking pretty good. I mean, this is gonna be good for quite a while. I like the flashback sequences and I REALLY like the references to the 1940's.
Rating: 20 out of 10 (: It's that good! :)

Daredevil. Ed Brubaker does it again! I'm gonna keep this one short and just say a few things. Ed Brubaker is just at the top of his game on this title. He's great along with Mike Lark's art and the character of Matt Murdock is one that Brubaker does phenomonally.
Rating: 10 out of 10

Nova. I'm enjoying Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's writing. The numerous artists who've worked on the short origin of Nova in the last issue were all great. I enjoyed Wellinton Alves' artwork the best in last month's issue.
Rating: 8 out of 10

The Chemist. I love this indie title sooooooo much! It's one of the top three indie comics that I subscribe to. It's all work and no play for this title and I'm glad that Jay Boose (The guy is becoming a big, big star.) is back to writing and drawing on his fantastic title. I love it and HIGHLY recommend it.
Rating: 9 out of 10

And lastly but far from least....Countdown. ("Countdown to the end...." NIN anyone? :) Okay, Countdown is just great. I love everything about this title and especially the way it crosses over into most of the DC titles. It's a great way to come back to comics if your a lapsed reader and I can't wait until final crisis.
