My Own Worst Enemy.

"Don't look before you laugh."-Bono

I'll be the first one to say it, I was wrong about this fall season of tv shows not having anything good to offer.

It's been almost an hour but I'm still surprised at how good the pilot of Christian Slater's new show, My Own Worst Enemy was tonight. I really enjoyed it and I really look forward to seeing it bloom into something special of a television series (That is, if the dicks at NBC don't cancel this show too! )

I really, really, really can't explain just ho much I liked this show's first episode! It was definatley some thing that I would give a  decent 8 out of 10 to.

For those of you who don't know, the show is about a man named Henry Spivey who discovers that he has a split personality whom is a secret agent who works for a secret government agency.

As the episode progressed, we learned that the main protagonist, Henry, was actually the experiment and that his alter-ego, Edward Albright, is actually the original of the two personalities who volunteered for the project (Just ask Wolverine how things like that end up) to show that "In order to proove free will, a person must do things that he doesn't want to do.," although it's pretty obvious that his reasons for volunteering for the project ran much deeper than a Zen philosophy of free will.

The show did have some elements from a few other series that I watch also. In particular, Journeyman and Burn Notice. Henry's life with his family (the way he dealt with them) and his plight of co-existing with another part of himself, especially the way that he dealt with that too, were definatley inspired by the short-lived Journeyman (Which held the exact same time slot as this new show).

The original personality, Edward, had a lot of "closed off" types of personality traits as Burn Notice's Michael Westen, except Edward had no charm to his character from what I saw.

All in all, the show was excllent and I've definatley added this to my list of television shows to watch every week.

It's like Journeyman meets Burn Notice meets The Machinist, a very good mixture. I liked it alot. A WHOLE lot.

I highly suggest everyone give this show just one chance next monday at 10 PM to see if they like it and if not, you wouldn't have to watch it again but honestly, I think it deserves at least one shot.

Anybody that knows me, knows how picky and selective I can be with television shows, particularly new ones and to tell the truth, this show is pretty good.

Don't forget, Mondays at 10 PM!
