The Best Film of the Year.... So Far.

"There's no fate but what we make."- Sarah Connor (T2: Judgement Day)

"There's no fate but what we make."- John Connor (Terminator Salvation)

Wow.... I really don't know what to say! I just got back from seeing the latest Terminator film and I honestly have to say.... it's an epic movie! Between this film and Star Trek, I don't think that a summer has been this good for a very, very, very long time.

If I had to list this latest Terminator movie on a list with the others, I'd have to put it right under "Judgement Day" and right above the original and the third film. This movie was really, trully something else. If I had to choose between this film and Watchmen from earlier in the year, I would trully have to give the crown to this new Terminator.

It's not a film that a newcomer can jump into like the studio has been stating for over a year and a half but as McG (Director of T4 & Executive Producer of Supernatural) has said and has prooven to be true, "Salvation" is both a prequel and a sequel at the same time to all of the previous films. Also, the rumors are true: There is a connection to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (If you know what stuff to look for), The new movie is indeed a sequel to "T3" and there's a very big surprise placed in the climax of the film when John Connor looks for Kyle Reese in Skynet (I won't reveal anymore, promise!).

The best part of this movie was the many, many, many homages that it paid to the prior films in the series and the recurring lines and trademarks. Be sure to listen out for Guns N' Roses' "You Could Be Mine" (the song that John played on his dirtbike in his garage in T2).... I swear, that scene is the PERFECT connection from the new movie to Terminator 2! Another great connection is how strangely uncanny Christian Bale looks EXACTLY like an older version of Edward Furlong.

The action is set on a bigger scale, arguably even more than it was in Judgement Day. The story sets up the next two films of the new trilogy and hints at what we already know is to come (Hint: T2 Scars). All in all, I feel as if it won't be too long before we see the next Terminator film in the series.
