"Oh, my heart: Love is Blindness." - Bono
Let's say, for the sake of conversation, that true love does exist: The question is, how long can it POSSIBLY last?
If you ask me, the answers to that question aren't too grand. I mean, more times than not, things won't work out past a couple of years or so, and on the off chance that they do work out for more than a few years - or even a few decades - the chances of one lover passing away before the other are still pretty big.
At some level, I guess I've just become very apathetic to even the idea of love (a mutual love between myself and some unlucky girl, that is) that I'm just hopelessly starting to pass the point of no return with it.
Love is a beautiful thing, truly, but my feelings about it haven't much changed in the long while since I wrote a similar diatribe about the subject: It's not something that I feel is meant for me. The way I see it, it's like this: Just because a few astroauts were lucky enough to make it into space, that doesn't mean the experience was destined for them all. It's the same thing when I look at the prospect of a lasting happiness and myself.... but that's nothing new, right?
It's like Mary Shannon said: "Life sucks, we're all gonna die."
