"I am the needle in your vein and I control you. I am the high you can't sustain and I control you. I am the pusher, I'm a whore and I control you. I am the need in you for more and I control you."-Trent Reznor
2008 is a fantastic year for any Comic Book/ Sci-Fi/ Fantasy fan. This year brings with it a ton of Movies,
Comics, TV series and Novels but as any year, It feeds our addictions for more.
Like junkies, we come back for our fix of entertainment every month and every year as if we're predictable addicts.
Comics are like crack. Once you pick one up and read one, your hooked and your fucked.
Movies are like cocaine. You get your fix and then you want more to numb your feelings and slow down your everyday life. In this case, sequels.
TV is like heroine. You get your uncontrollable high and on a more frequent basis, you come back for a new episode every single week.
And last but not least, Novels. Novels aren't as bad as the others but it's addictive to a chosen few. In this case, Marajuana. You read a novel and you'll end up wanting something stronger (Comics, Movies, TV.)
I bring all this up because for those of you who know, Convention season is riiiiiiight around the corner and I think we're gonna get hooked really badly this year or we're gonna get a overdose of our addictions to Comics and Movies and TV and for some, Novels.
It's looking like a fun-filled, joy ride for me this year with "The Dark Knight", "Iron Man", "The Incredible Hulk", "The Punisher: War Zone", "Hellboy II: The Golden Army", "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", "Speed Racer", "Star Trek" and the next installment to the "James Bond" series all coming out this year, My (As well as others') addictions to the movies are looking like a great, big "high" of some kind.
The question is: Will people burn out of excitement by the end of the year?

Now that the writers are back from their dragged out strike on the film studios, what began in the fall of 2007 looks like it's coming back to it's greatness once again. In particular, my favorite shows: "Smallville",
"Supernatural" and "Heroes" are making their ways back onto the small screen in mid-April but unfortunatley due to the strike, the seasons of all returning shows will not have a full 23 episodes but instead have a count of only 15-17 episodes until next fall and then we'll all start off again with a full, new season of each one of or favorites.
Unfortunatley, some of my personal favorites didn't make the cut during the strike/break and they won't be returning ever again. Those that didn't make it were: "Journeyman" (I was shocked to hear it too!) and "Cavemen".
Some scary rumor has been going around that Supernatural of all shows is going to possibly be cancelled but I REALLY hope it's just another bullshit rumor as usual. *This harshes my mellow.*

The questions are: How will the seasons of our favorite shows end this year with only four or five episodes to close off with? & How will the shortened seasons effect the DVD's of the TV series?
Television of 2008: 6 out of 10
Comics. Comics. Comics. It's incredible how I tend to look forward to Comics even more than I do, Movies or Television. It's a loyalty to my roots, I guess. This year, we've got "Secret Invasion", "Valiant: World War III" and "Final Crisis".
I'm mostly looking forward to the return of one of my childhood favorites, Valiant Comics. I missed their 90's-esque comic books like, Ninjak, Killjoy and Silver Star. At one point, I loved them more than I did Image comics (That was until Image got the rights to "G.I. Joe" and killed the competition). So, yeah, I'm glad to have them back.
Moving on: "Secret Invasion". I've seen enough of Bendis' work to trust his ability to kick some major ass with this new Skrull-filled, Deception-packed mini series which is to be sure to surprise all with revealing exactly who has and hasn't been a skrull since the beginning of "Civil War". I have a distinct feeling that this Mini Series is just gonna be rediculously fantastic!
"Final Crisis" is almost here and I'm glad that all the goddamn crisis' are almost all over. I just wanna see if the rumors of Bruce Wayne's death come true in this series, so told by the rumors that have been going around for the past year.
Comics of 2008: 8 out of 10
Conventions of 2008
New York Comic-Con: April 18-21
Wizard World Philadelphia: May 30-June 1

Until next time, feed your comic book and sci-fi addictions well! I'll be away in Pennsylvania on the 14th through the 18th so I'll see you guys when I see you! :)
