Limited Action Theory.

"The few do not outweigh the many." - George R. R. Martin

What needs to be taken into account is that congressmen and congresswomen do not have the clout to vote however they want to on the issues due to party indimidation and the prospect of social alienation from their benefactors and voting constituents. This is why I get mad when people talk about voting for the caliber of the candidate instead of looking at the party that said candidate supports and the policies that they'll be forced to support, once elected, because of their political associations.

Blue candidates overwhelmingly vote for blue agendas, red candidates vote overwhelmingly for red agendas. It's that simple because that's the way the game is played; bi-partisanship in politics is merely a nice fantasy when it comes to the way things actually work once a person is elected to office. The political pressure overwhelms the personal will.

This is precisely why I get sick to death of naive potheads going on about old-ass Ron Paul and how he's supposedly such a "rebel" when he voted alongside nearly every single Bush doctrine literally 94% of the time. The man race-baits and supports the same stupidity just like everyone else in his racist party.
