"Don't let the bastards grind you down." - Bono
"The writers on our show ["Supernatural"] have never frayed away from saying how we felt, politically. All of that started with Eric [Kripke] leading the way and the rest of us all sort of took the ball from there onwards, when it came down to structuring and producing our scripts. There have been times when that's landed us in hot water with the suits and critics alike, as you know. We've been bl...asted for taking our sometimes subtle - and sometimes, very obvious - jabs at the Republican Party and their core values. Let it be an apocalyptic headline that warned of a Palin presidency from our fifth season, or our angelic ambassador [Castiel] dismantling the Ku Klux Klan after exposing a closeted firebrand evangelist, or modeling our latest villain Dick Roman and his backstory after [Republican Presidential Candidate] Mitt Romney.

But I feel it's a priority to be able to remain true to the characters that we write. And like the Winchesters, those of us who write this show and these characters every week, subscribe to that same American quality of 'rolling with the punches' that our protagonists on the show do. Some have called our handling of religious themes sacrilegious and others have called us politically biased but no law was ever passed that said that we had to pander to politeness. If you don't like our show, then don't watch it. We're not hurting in the ratings."
