""Now is the winter of our discontent." - King Richard III
I believe that this country's obsession with weapons is ridiculous and we need stricter gun laws. Afterall, eight out of the last ten rampages in the U.S. were all carried out with legally-bought firearms. I don't believe that games, music, films or literature are the cause of violence in America seeing as how the same media is also seen all around the world with lesser effects.
With that being said, though, I agree with Richard Evans about the hypocrisy of the creators from within the comic book industry in particular: What a massive contradiction it is that the same people who make very good livings based largely off of a violence-based medium that uniquely influences many other formats larger than itself are the first to preach to the masses about responsibility at every turn and after every tragedy. That's like a hooker telling an average woman about what she finds to be promiscuous behavior. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Also, I find it funny that creators like James Woodward and others on Twitter are vehement when it comes to criticizing others, but their first instinct is to block you from speaking your mind when they can't make any reasonable arguments against you on a topic anymore. This is the exact reason why I tell my friends to stop putting creators on a pedestal because after spending so much time with them and witnessing their disdain for the people who put food on their tables, I know better. To be talented does not make you moral.
