It's an interesting anomaly about me that most of my favorite films end on down-endings. Wonder what that says about me? Perhaps that I perpetually see the proverbial glass as half empty instead of half full, as my Mom and others would point out, or could it be that I'm just a realist and that I don't gravitate towards rose-colored aspects of stories because none of that has been my experience in my waking life?
If it's the former then I'm fine with that. There's integrity in seeing the glass as half empty because that only means that you recognize the full potential of a thing. That's unreleased ambition is all.
