"If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." - Malcolm X
So, the word is that CM Punk has quit WWE and truth be told, I fucking sympathize with him to the millionth degree if it's true. Not just because he's a personal hero of mine but simply because of the simple fact that I understand his frustration. In my own life, too, I've had the disgruntling experiences of doing all the hard work and heavy lifting only for the pretty boys with no talent or goodwill, and who haven't put in any real effort at all, to get all the glory.

CM Punk works over 330 live events a year, has not missed any scheduled appearances in over half a decade, and is the second-highest merchandise driver for the WWE. All that and he's still disrespected with the blatant backstage favoritism for part-timers who are way past their primes like The Rock and Dave Bautista; The former refusing to do any House Shows or untelevised events when the belt was dropped to him and the latter automatically receiving the Main Event at Wrestlemania 30 upon his first match back with the company despite a four year absence.
It's no mistake that Triple H's old buddies all usurped title spots as of the start of the new year (Out-of-retirement New Age Outlaws as the WWE tag-team champs, Randy Orton as the Unified Heavyweight Champ, and Dave Bautista in the Main Event at the biggest show of the year) and it's of no moral wrongdoing that CM Punk has stuck to his principles and refuses, like I would - hence my empathy with the guy, to kiss anyone's ass. What's his is his and that Main Event at Wrestlemania 30 rightfully belongs to him. Not because he thinks he thinks he deserves a handout, but because he's worked his ass off for it and deserves it.
People like to think that nothing is ever owed to anyone else in life, simply to absolve themselves of any potential obligation, but the reality is that if you benefit from something, intended or not, then it's on your shoulders to do right by your benefactor on the principle of the social contract in and of itself. WWE has benefited billions off of the name and self-made brand of Phillip Brooks' independent creation of CM Punk, which existed years before they discovered it, and they've done so with glee. Now it's time for them to pay the piper and be the givers in the relationship by playing ball. The man has been the gift that's kept on giving to that company only to constantly be kicked in the nuts for far too long in favor of management's pals and suck-ups, as is the case all over the world in many other situations that are equally unfair. But now it's time to pay up. Stand strong, Punk.
