I've got much respect for George R.R. Martin. He and I are both creators at heart, albeit many light-years apart in terms of fame and success, but at the same time we weirdly feel the same way about independence and ownership when it comes to our property. I understand his protectiveness one-hundred percent and I feel the exact same way about my very own characters. Unless given permission, I'd never publish my ideas using other people's property. Make your own shit, people. It's not easy but it's worth it.
