The Business of Being Will Smith.

"Those that'll tell don't know, and those that know won't tell." - Da Mayor

It really bothers me that people are ragging on Will Smith's decision not to star in "Independence Day: Resurgence". Sure, it's a slight blow to my excitement for the film, seeing as how I grew up loving the first installment, but I understand his departure from the franchise from a business standpoint: The film was shot at the same time as "Suicide Squad".

Why would he give up on a multi-picture option like the DC Cinematic Universe start-up which could (and probably will) rake him in hundreds of millions of dollars like Robert Downey, Jr. was able to as Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just to star in one film where, frankly, the story only lends itself to rehashing the same invasion-centric plot from the original film? It's not logical. So, to the whiney fans: Will Smith is not your bitch. He owes nobody anything, and neither does anybody else for that matter.
