Back from the start.

"We cheat our time here."-Joseph Ferrante

What a week. Comic-con and the usual have kept me pretty busy. So busy that I haven't had much time to blog or keep up in about eight or nine days or so.

Speaking of Comic-con, I had quite a blast!

I met Stan Lee again for the third time by pure luck, I finally met the gorgeous G. Willow Wilson and her buddy, M.K. Perker, I got a water colored painting done by Amanda Conner, I met Peter Laird once more,
I furthered my networking skills and I got a critique on one of my stories.

Let's do it, day-by-day:

Comic-con '08-Day 1

1. The very first thing that I did at this year's convention was of course, run over to my favorite indie creators, Tom Travers and Jonathan Wood's booth for their company, "Bontebok Design," so that I could check out their latest work and to see how much they've progressed (a whole lot!) since last year's con.

2. I caught up with Jason and we began our hustle for signatures, starting at the DC booth with Gail Simone (Wait until you see the picture! Too funny....) and while I was on line for that, I happened to meet my old buddy Kris Guerra from my old and long dead Comic Book group on Sconex.com! :)

3. Immediatley after, I rushed over to the Vertigo booth to meet G. Willow Wilson and M.K. Perker. I was glad that I surprised them when I told them how much I loved their book! You should've seen their faces light up!

4. Shortly after that, we made it over to the Lost for Toys booth(s) and I picked up a great six inch Spawn figure that I'd been searching for, for a year and a half.

5. Later on, I met one of the greatest Comic Book Writers of our time, Grant Morrison. What a meeting that was!

Comic-con '08-Day 2

1. Unfortunatley, I was plagued with delays and problems (As you've already figured! Just read these past three years worth of blogs....) that morning so I wasn't able to beat the competition as I had done for the two years prior by getting there super-early (6 AM) hence, that's why I got there at 10:15 AM that Saturday, putting me behind like a gazillion other fellow nerds and slimming my chances of getting the autographing tickets for Alex Ross and Stan Lee and Frank Miller and that oh, so sexy Eva Mendes.

2. When I did finally make it into the show floor, I met up with Jason once again and started the rest of my day from there.

3. Later on, I met 'Mr. DC Comics' himself, Geoff Johns for the second time and I ended up breaking my curse with the Kubert brothers once and (hopfully) for all (I'd tried to meet them both at four different cons and constantly ended up failing as usual).

4. By about 3 or 4 PM, I was so tired that I really needed a place to sit so, I just went to a panel and ended up in over my head! First, they showed us like two or three scenes to the upcoming Hulk movie including Robert Downey JR's cameo (If you catch my drift), after that we all got the chance to see the latest Speed Racer trailer and immediatley afterwards they showed us a "secret" trailer two weeks ahead of the rest of the entire world for....The Dark Knight, and I'm so sure this movie is going to kick major ass, well, I'm just sure of it.

5. Not ready to leave the panel theatre just then, I stayed on and listened in on Frank Miller and Eva Mendes' talk about the upcoming Spirit movie which comes out in January of next year.

6. Now, this is the big surprise! After all of the panels were over with, I went to take a seat near the escalators outside of the theatre and then BOOM! Guess who was walking around like a regular joe?! Stan Lee! And with nobody crowded around him for a change. I shook his hand and let the man go but then of course, someone noticed and basically, a stampede was created. HA! I wonder what happened to him after that....!

Comic-con '08-Day 3

1. The first thing I did was....get there a bit late! I figured, it made absolutley no sense to wake up early and bright for the slowest and least important day of the entire three-day event so I just got up at 10 AM and got there at 11:30 AM, that Sunday.

2. Once on the show floor that day, I just went to go buy some comics being that everyone was selling them all for like a buck each and I got some more toys! Oh, and I got Supergirl (issue) 0, finally. It's been out of stock for two years....

3. As you can see, I was right to get there late being that it was so boring that day but I did manage to meet Darwyn Cooke at Amanda Conner's table and he signed my copies of Will Eisner's The Spirit (issue) 1 and Superman Confidential (issue) 1.

4. Probably the biggest thing of all, Amanda Conner read my latest script and she "Really liked it," as she put it in her own words. I mean, pride-boost or what?! She took a few minutes to read the entire intro but when she was done with it, she had quite a few cool things to say about it which I apprieciated but I don't wanna beat it into the ground so I'll leave it at that.

Hell, I'll tell you guys anyway. She said that she was able to visualize my script very well, She "enjoyed" the dialogue in the intro and she ended with telling me that what I had (at the time) was a "interesting" start into the story. I felt pretty....good (for a change).

5. All in all, I finished my day pretty early and I'd had a pretty great first convention for this year.

Since the con, last Sunday, I've pretty much rested up from last weekend and written a shit-load of pages for numerous stories.

My grandparents were gone all week so, I've been crashing here alone for like five or six days. My brother came and hung out with me for two and a half days but as usual, he (like everyone else in my life) had to constantly go to work. What a jip! :)

So anyway, I've been partying all week long, reading tons of new comic books and graphic novels (HA!
Exactly in that order too!) , blasting NIN's latest album, "Ghosts" in the back room of this huge house (which gets lonley at night) on the stereo system and very much contemplating if I should ask Marlene out or not, I mean she did turn me down once before but on the optimistic side, that was three entire years ago....

But, hey the week has flown right past me and I'm getting ready for school to start on Monday but no worry!
I'm going to the Museum of Natural History with my Mom tomorrow, Iron Man comes out next Friday, Free
Comic Book Day is next Saturday and well, I've got Speed Racer to go see in two weeks and the new
Indiana Jones movie to see in three weeks and in four weeks, I'm off to Philly!!!!! [Crowd goes wild!!!]

Catch ya on the flip side, guys....!
