"Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war."-Alexander
Not much to say, I guess.
Today has had it's ups and downs but I'm just wondering about how tomorrow will turn out.
The big event of today was surprisingly, my mom breaking out in tears while my brother and I talked heavily about both of us probably joining the military sooner or later (rather sooner).
It's always been a subject that's bothered my mom a whole lot, especially when I used to speak about it on the daily basis, but I've never seen her get so sad or emotional like she did today.
I guess I'd cry my eyes out too, if both of my kids were talking about joining the military but then again, you have to understand something vital: My brother and I are practically grown men now and it's up to us to decide our futures and aspirations.
The one thing that I've always noticed with my closest of friends and family is that when I just simply bring up the idea of joining the active service, they either shut me down (which doesn't last too long since nobody sets my standards for me) or they become very, very, very emotional about it. But the way my mom got today while my brother and I were both talking about the probabilites of joining, was very sadening and scary at the same time.
I mean, even my dad and grandfather, whom are both veterans have their doubts about me and (now) my brother joining but the truth is (and I say this to everyone): A man has to go his own way.
I'm pretty sure I'll just stay here and continue my journey towards becoming a professional comic book writer but the military idea is going to keep lingering in my mind for sure also.
Would I leave everything behind?
Marlene?
My family and friends?
My aspirations?
My life as I know it?
Sure, if it was for a cause or idea I believed in....
