"Things in our dreams can symbolize the same or many different things, depending on the person dreaming."-Dr. Paul Weston
I had a pretty crazy dream a few hours ago. Well, although it's 7:30 PM, I slept the whole day away as usual.
So, anyway, in my dream I was playing a game of football with Blair Underwood's character, Alex, from "In Treatment".
For obvious reasons, his character always reminded me of my father. The cocky attitude, the sarcasm and the whole military demeanor which they both share is uncanny.
The dream was weird as hell.
I was on my way somewhere ( I forgot some of the details) and all of a sudden, I bumped into Alex whom had a football in his hand as he was coming into my building. He was in his usual arrogant attitude so as a challenge, out of nowhere, he challenged me to a game of football. It seemed like something my dad would do but in this case, it was Alex.
And like the show, Alex kept repeating himself to me that: "He's the best."
And of course....that sounds like something my father would've said too in real life.
As the dream ended, I tackled him and beat him at his own game. I was officially "the best".
The way I interpreted it, as you can already tell: My Dad was symbolized by Alex, Mr.Perfection, and the football game was the symbol of my relationship with my dad.
The football itself, was a symbol of power and our struggle to have complete power over each other and everything. Overall, seeing as how, in my dream, I won the game, I won the control of my life and I broke away from the things that were holding me back.
But....it was all a dream.
