Supernatural 5x01 Review.

"Lucifer is powerful in ways that defies description." - Zachariah

I waited for four months (four years actually) to see what the writers of Supernatural had up their sleeves for last night's particular premiere, and I must say.... they didn't disappoint at all!

To bring up a few things that caught my eye: I love the new titlecard the most out of all of the series' many titlecards/opening sequences, I was very pleased to see that Misha Collins has finally gotten his star billing right next to Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles (especially after the brilliant award-worthy performance he delivered in The Rapture [Episode 4x20]).

The thing that I loved the most was the fact that the storyline continued exactly the way I feel it was meant to, with Sam and Dean stuck in the convant to face Lucifer as he rose to earth for the first time in thousands of years. Even more impressive was the way Mark Pellegrino portayed the grief-stricken human host of Lucifer himself, while I also enjoyed the return of Meg's demon and Jim Beaver's acting while his character was posessed by a demon early on in the premiere.

But the scene that I absolutely loved the most was when Castiel returned and gave a hint that someone powerful (God?) ressurected him and saved Sam and Dean from the MASSIVE explosion at the site of Lucifer's epic and inevitable rising.

However, I didn't like the fact that Bobby found himself paralyzed in this episode (as a writer, I'd have Archangel Raphael heal the character since the situation opens itself up to that particular solution in the first place with Raphael being the angel of healing and all....), but other than that I truly don't have a single complaint about the long-awaited episode.

(Though I'm not complaining about it at all) the writing seems a bit different for some reason this season too, just for the sake of pointing it out.

And of course, the series has once again proven not only why I hold it in such high regards, but also why the Philadelphia Daily News recently voted the show "one of television's top ten series".

I can't wait for next week's episode to be honest! With two of my favorite characters, Jo, Ellen and Rufus coming back for the first time since seasons two and three, respectively.

This season is turning out to be a blast already!

P.S.: Not to brag, but I predicted that Dean would be Archangel Michael's vessel for quite very long time!
