New York Comic Con 2010 - Day 3.

"Night descends: Could I have been a better person? If I could only do it all again!" - Trent Reznor

Well, today was the last day of this year's New York Comic-Con festival.... and in few words: It was awesome!

Today started off at six o'clock in the morning for me when my cell phone's alarm went a-blazing once more - waking me up from a really deep sleep this time. It didn't take me long this morning to get dressed and to prepare myself for the exciting day that was still ahead of me at that moment. And little did I know just how awesome the day would actually turn out to be!

Before I left the house, I set my CD player to the tune of Coldplay's "X&Y", and from there on out: I observed the moving world around me as I walked to the train station in the cold of the colorful, bright, and sunny early October morning. Today's train ride was pretty much identical to yesterday's and the day before's.

At East 33rd Street & Park Avenue, after my exit from the subway down below, I made my way to the M34 bus stop that was the closest - just as I'd done the day before and the day before that. But, without a doubt, I definitely made good time in terms of the speed in which I arrived at the convention center this morning: Less than an hour after I'd left home over ten miles away.

About two hours later, after waiting in the line-up area for the convention's final day to begin once again, I made my way over to the con's Artists Alley for the third day in a row. First off my list was Peter David who signed my copy of the magnificent "Fallen Angel" omnibus. Also, I made it a top priority to buy two of his X-Factor scripts before I left his table.

The next creator that I met for the day was Matthew Dow Smith who drew the first six issues of Supernatural: Origins a few years back. And as it turned out: He and I were both big fans of Journeyman!

Next up was Leinil Francis Yu who I got to sign my copies of Vengeance of the Moon Knight #2 and Wolverine: Origins #46. After him, I made my way over to Shane Davis' table where I got him to sign the issues of Superman/Batman that he'd worked on, as well as my copy of Supergirl #54. And after him, I traveled to the Archie Comics booth to finally get my massive collection of Spider-Girl comics signed by Tom DeFalco who'd been sorta hit-or-miss in terms of finding him at the convention.... and I did! Finally! At Last! At LOOOOOONG last!

But although I'd ended up checking off practically all of my quota list for the convention by that point, there was still one more person who's signature I still needed: The, oh so talented, Mrs. Gail Simone!

Luckily for me, I ended up being the first person in the line for the writer's autographing session at the DC Comics Booth today. Equally as lucky: I only had one thing for her to sign for me this time around, and that happened to be Wonder Woman #43. After that last brush with literary excellence, I returned home for the very first time in my life having gotten each and every one of the comics that I'd brought to the convention over the course of the show's three days signed - making my autograph percentage rate 100% for the very first time ever! (Yep, I'm proud of that accomplishment too!).

All in all: This weekend was a really memorable one for me; definitely one which will stick with me for many, many, and many more years to come!

If I had to say though, in closing, just one honest thing about this year's NYCC: It'd be that this year was by far the best one that the convention planners have ever put together so far. It was great!

Stuff That I Bought at This Year's Convention: Uncanny X-Men #137, What If.... #105 (Vol.2), Amazing Spider-Man #478, Amazing Spider-Man #492, True Blood #1 (Cover B), True Blood #1 (Sketch Cover), The X-Files: The Pilot Episode Adaptation, Daredevil #183, Daredevil #462, Teen Titans #43 (2003 Volume), Superman: The Wedding Album, Superman: Forever #1, Batman: No Man's Land #1, X-Factor #39, Peter David's Original Script for X-Factor #39, Peter David's Original Script for X-Factor #40, Three Water-colored Posters of Power Girl by Amanda Conner, and lastly: The original sketch proposal of Don Kramer's idea to DC Comics for Wonder Woman's New Costume in J. Michael Straczynski's recent run on the title - a proposal that was later fused with Jim Lee's vision which resulted in the current outcome of the new uniform.

Friday's Signatures: Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, Billy Tucci, Scott Hanna, Ryan Benjamin, Dustin Nguyen, Arthur Suydam, J.K. Woodward, Steve McNiven, Don Kramer, and Larry Hama.

Yesterday's Signatures: Sal Larroca, David Finch, Olivier Coipel, Chris Claremont, Greg Pak, and Poalo Rivera.

Today's Signatures: Tom DeFalco, Gail Simone, Shane Davis, Peter David, Leinil Yu, and Matthew Dow Smith.

I'd say that that was a pretty impressive weekend, wouldn't you?
