Better Things To Do.

Part of the reason why I don't go to comic book conventions anymore (despite the posers who've hijacked NYCC and my useless boycott against "New 52") is because I've grown to hate the idea of celebrity, in all of it's forms: Behind the scenes and otherwise.

Sure, I can blame it on the negative experiences that I've had with people who's work I once admired, but I think my apathy stems from something much larger and deeper than that. It's the fact that I, myself, have grown not to like the idea of having people feel superior to me - and that's exactly what paying to ask someone to provide you with a few stripes of ink on a flattened piece of wood is: Celebrity Worship.

Some of these people who I've met - Writers, Artists, Actors - they've completely tripped-out on their own egos by the time I've met them that one can only wonder how, in good conscience, anyone could ever have supported them? I'm pretty sure it was my negative encounter with Michael Biehn that opened my eyes but that would be too easy of an excuse, I feel. You'll be surprised what you see when your eyes are opened too.... they're just skin and bones like the rest of us. I'd rather focus on my own work than go out of my way to stroke someone else's ego.
