I learn from whatever sources I have available to me, may they be fictional or not. George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice & Fire" series (or simply "Game of Thrones" to the shallow people out there) has taught me more than 98% of teachers from my school days ever did.
Take the flaws of Ned and Robb Stark and the morals of their stories for example: You can be as academically intelligent as you want to be but none of that will save you in the real world. Being tactical is great but you have to know people too more than anything else, first and foremost.
And when it comes down to it, as any ancient philosopher would've told you if pressed: People will always do what's in their own favor first before anything else, no matter where society says their loyalties should lie.
