Many congrats to this little engine that could. Marvel had no desire to produce this series and because of the enthusiasm of fans, what was just a one-time character in a film became the subject of a short movie special feature and out of the fan enthusiasm from that came a television series which simultaneously beat the odds of cancellation and became an even more quality product than it's own predecessor "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D".
Like Castiel of "Supernatural": Peggy Carter is an irrefutable gem born from greatness, this instance being the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
