Montage Series: "Saving Grace".

"You say hellraiser like it's a bad thing, Earl." - Grace Hanadarko

It usually takes me a while to decide if I'm in favor of the characters featured in certain stories, but with the characters from "Saving Grace," the decision didn't take long for me at all: I loved them all, just as much as I related to certain aspects of their lives and situations - and not just because the show was pretty decent, but because it's characters were amazingly human, flawed, and vulnerable. And sometimes, that's all a story needs in order to be successful.

The characters of the TV show, especially Grace, were overall all good people but highly controversial in terms of fidelity, morality, alcoholism, and honesty - all of which, were things that I tried very hard to express in each character's montage.

Structurally, though: With this montage series, I wanted to do something a little bit different. This time around, I chose to not only sneak in little hints of who the next character in the series would be, by placing a photo of them in the previous montage in the series, but by also demonstrating how both the Angel Earl - as well as their friend Grace - bonded them all together. Overall, though, I truly feel that this series exceeded my original expectations for it, even to the point of where I now consider it to be one of the top four best series I've ever done, as of right now. I'm really content with the way it all turned out.

Music-wise: I started the series off with a small introduction into the characters' shared world, but for each individual character, I chose to use a U2 song for each of them (even re-using the first song that I used for my very first montage as the second half of the closing series concluder). The choice to have the songs of U2 be the majority of the series, came from a part of myself which had been wanting to do something of the sort for quite a while, even before I thought I'd do a montage series for "Saving Grace" - but as fate would have it, their music, as well as the titles of their songs (i.e.: "Grace" for Grace Hanadarko) just spoke to the spirit and hearts of the characters, mostly because of the specific roles which they all played in the overall story.

Ranging from Grace's childhood all the way to her last courageous moments fighting Hut Flanders (Satan), while featuring twelve montages in the whole series (not including it's entry into the Supernatural crossover series), this was one hell of a project to work on....
